Summer Movies 2009

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE- Excellent movie! It is definitely a five star movie. The movie jumps right into the action packed plot in the beginning and does not stop. The entire plot corresponds with the X-Men trilogy and explains everything. Of course there are some surprises I did not see coming but I will let you find out for yourself. On the plus side, I have never seen Hugh Jackman look so good. Another actor that caught my eye was Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson). He always does these cute romance comedies but he switched it up on us. Ryan Reynolds supportive part(s) in Wolverine blew me out the water. I hope that in the future he does more. If you are an action freak like me, then I highly suggest this movie. Anyone who disagrees does not matter.

STAR TREK 2009- Honestly, I was surprised how good the movie was. Most commercials build the movie up more than it actually is but not Star Trek. The commercial do it justice. The funny thing is I am a Star Wars person but Star Trek really caught my eye. Now, I never saw the original or watched the series so I not sure how qualified I am to speak on the movie's behalf but for what it worth, I was very intrigued by the movie. Plot, characters, and setting all fascinated me. From an outside Star Trek fanatic prospective and looking at it as an action movie it was four stars. Chris Pine (James T. Kirk) did a good job. I liked the fact he was a very confident person with a subtle sense of humor. I was surprised with Zoe Saldana (Uhura) because I was predicting a traditional romance plot. Usually, hero/ star/ main character get the girl in the end....but I was wrong. Apparently, Uhura has eyes for another. Another shocker: Tyler freaking Perry! Yes! Tyler Perry does have a role, small role, but a role in Star Trek. I did not expect him of all people. When I saw him I dropped my jaw. But hey, he did well. I am just glad he can act. In the end, all I can say is go see the movie. It is worth $5-10, or whatever you pay these days.

TERMINATOR SALVATION- I never got around to watching any of the terminator movies but I have heard what the entire buzz is about; but I have seen Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The movie does live up to the commercials and it is exactly what it advertises. It is a great action movie with loud noises and big machines. This movie was made for the bug screen. Unfortunately, I did pay nine dollars to see it but that is a kind of movie that cannot be watched on a little screen and definitely not without surround sound. Now, not to be nit picky but the only reason Christian Bale was the star is because he is a bigger star than Sam Worthington (Marcus) is. The story really revolved around this half man half machine. With all that said, Christian Bale does a stellar performance and so does Sam Worthington. Another surprise performance was, Anton Yelchin (Kyle Reese). First he co-stars with Robert Downey Jr. in Charlie Bartlett then, he slides in Star Trek, and next I see the kid in Terminator Salvation! He is building up quite a career with these
movies and his superb performances.

LAND OF THE LOST- Apparently, this movie is a remake of an older version of Land of the Lost. I have not seen the older version but I do not think it has a funny Will Ferrell spin on it. The movie was definitely what I expected but I got just as many laughs as I paid for...and more. At first, I did not want to see the movie but I when the opportunity arose to see it, I went for it. It was not the predicted next movie I would have guessed for Will Ferrell but it was his typical hilarious performance. Now, Danny McBride and Will Ferrell make an impressive team, and I would cast them any day together. So far he (Danny McBride) is building up a notable résumé in the comedic department. The movie without doubt made me laugh so much more than I expected.

TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN- Just got done seeing the movie, and yes, it is two hours and forty- five minutes. This movie exceeded my expectations in all areas: more action, a lot more comedy, and bigger story lines for some characters. This movie gets five stars across the board. This movie not only has so many action sequences but it has some hilarious comments. At one point I thought it was hilarious to see a bit of Louis Stevens in Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam. He was doing that really high pitch scream just like when he was on Even Stevens. On that note, Shia LaBeouf did a remarkable job and topped his first performance by a long shot. You can really see the changes in him physically and skillfully. Kudos to the writer because the time and work that went in to creating that story line is unbelievable. Like all sequels, the story line gets deeper and is so intriguing. I absolutely love the cast, story line, and the overall movie. Revenge of the Fallen is about ten notches higher than the first Transformers and everyone steps up to make that happen. My advice is to definitely go see the movie and if you do not like it....then something is wrong with you.

TV- Spring 2009 Season Finales

PRIVATE PRACTICE- I don't know about anyone else but I am tired of all these relationships. Naomi and Sam will always love each other so they need to put aside their differences and just get back together. Cooper and Charlotte need to just get married and stop with all the back and forth. She hates him for a different reason every time the wind blows a different direction. It is always something. I still think Pete and Addison have a chance together. They made such a good couple and their chemistry was off the hook. Plus Addison is annoying when she is lonely. Now, when it come to Violet....I want, hope, and pray the baby is Shelton because she and Pete are not a good couple. It really sucks that she is stuck with a crazy lady who thinks Violet has her baby. Can wait til the fall.

BROTHERS & SISTERS- Tommy is back! or He is at least in the show. Thank Goodness Nora found Tommy because she was having a conniption fit about everyday. I am glad Tommy is happy and Justin and Rebecca are engaged. They are cute couple. And that Ryan kid needs to leave. He just added more problems on top of all the Walker's drama. On the other hand, poor Kitty. She never got the chance to tell Robert she wanted to make things right.

ONE TREE HILL- It is about time! Finally, ladies and gentlemen....Lucas and Peyton got married. Not only did they get married but the newest member of the Scott family has been born- Brook/Sawyer Scott (which ever name she chose). It was a pretty good episode. Almost everyone got a happy ending, well of course minus Dan and his dying heart. Everyone still hates Dan and he gets to die alone, poor guy. Nathan made it to the NBA playing for the North Carolina Bobcats. Good for him. And Brook made amends with her mother, Victoria, and finally said "I love you" to Julienne. Lastly, Peyton did lived, so it was a good episode for almost everyone.

LOST- Can you say OMG! I assume the bomb went off, but I am so eager to see what happens next. If the plane crash never happens then what happens next? If the bomb went off and it did not work, is everyone dead? What happens next?!? What sucks the most is we got to wait until 2010 to find out what happens. I am going to go insane waiting.

GOSSIP GIRL- I thought they were so close to finding out who Gossip Girl really was...turned out the joke was on them. Everyone got fooled and but everyone had satisfying closure to their story line. Blair and Nate broke up, thank goodness, that was never going to last. Everyone knew they did not have that chemistry like Nate and Vanessa. Then, the dynamic duo finally joined forces. Chuck finally told Blair (to her face) he loved her. But I can not wait to see the look on Blair Waldorf's face when she finds out who her new roommate is at NYU next year. I'll give you a hint...."Tell Jesus, the bitch is back." Yes, Satan has returned as Blair's nemesis enemy, with the name, Georgina. Good luck B.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES- Things are pretty twisted and messed up for these housewives. Not only is Edie dead, but this is the post mark for things to start going bizarre. Gabby and Carlos take in a slutty looking teenager but not a slut . Bree has been blackmailed into staying in her marriage but kicks off a nice fling with her divorce lawyer, Susan and Edie's ex, Carlos. If she keeps at it, her life is going to spiral down to the way it was before Orson showed up. Lynette is pregnant with twins. How about them apples? Then comes the famous love triangle of Susan, Mike, and Kathryn. Susan and Mike did kiss but who did he really marry? ABC better not do some twist on us and have him marry Kathryn. We have basically waited for two season to see Mike and Susan perfectly happy, and the season they get married they want to fast forward five years when they are not together. Give me a break! Mike and Susan just need to live happily ever after...forever....thats it!

UGLY BETTY- I am so proud of Betty...not only becoming an editor, but an editor at Mode. I do feel sorry for Mark because he worked so hard. And, Henry....yeah....coming out of no where. He and Betty still make a good couple but I am glad they made a clean break. But, it is so sad that Molly died because she changed Daniel's life completely and now she goes and dies on him. The one girl he committed his life to, and married, dies. That is really depressing. While most people root for the Meade team, I like when Willamina runs things too. I am not rooting for one over the other, it is just I like when they combine power and rule together. Hopefully, she regains her power and doesn't get fired. Oh, yeah, and Betty's ex- boyfriend, Matt...I never liked him. Now, is Betty's boss. Karma is a *you know what*. Betty is in for a ride next season.

GREY'S ANATOMY- OMG!!!!WTF!!!$#^#%&!!!@@!@!! Words cannot describe my passion, pain, and obsession for Grey's Anatomy. Christina and the army dude, Owen, are working things out and I think they will be alright. Callie needs to get out of this whole lesbian phase, it is not her. Some people are not meant to be gay, and she is one of them. Speaking of non-matching couples, I do not like Mark Sloan and Lexie Lil Grey together. They don't have the chemistry I like. I think Sloan and Lil Grey need to break up so Callie and Sloan can be together. Lexie would have been a good match for some other bimbo doctor if he didn't sign up for the army. Yes, George, he completely ruined everything by signing up for the army. What is that all about? Even though Meredith and Derrick gave their wedding away to Izzie and Karev, they had their little contract they sign which is as good as really getting married for them. It is about time...I've been waiting for them to tie the knot since season one. They had the chemistry and they were so perfect for each other. The Mer-Der relationship is pretty much sealed. Thank goodness. Now on to the big stuff...Derek got Izzie's tumor out- good. Messed up her memory temporarily- not so good. George signs up for them army and wants to save lives- fine but stepping out in front of a bus- terrible. What were you thinking 007?!? How traumatic is it that the two sweetest people on the show flat line in the end. My heart almost stopped with Izzie and George after watching that episode. Most people have their assumptions what is going to happen next, but rumor is Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are leaving the show. In addition, in final scene, Izzie and George were in the land of the dead on the elevator. I personally think they are dead. The Lord himself truly knows I don't want them to be dead but we might have to face the facts when season six rolls around. Lets all pray for them.
